Johnson City TN Home Specialist: Serendipities - LPN wants investment - for son in my husband's class

Serendipities - LPN wants investment - for son in my husband's class

At the doctor’s office, the LPN noticed that I live on Sharon Drive and mentioned her friend who lived on my street.  I knew they’d recently sold, which revealed to her that I was a real estate agent.   Then she said she’d been thinking about buying an investment property since she had a son in medical school and another at ETSU.   I asked her what year her medical student was, and when she said “second year,” I knew he’d have had my husband in his gross anatomy lab, since Mike volunteered there until this year, after 50+ years of teaching gross at other schools.    She told me about another student who had been very close to her son, and my husband had taught her son and had just been at the funeral at which her son was pallbearer.

We discovered later that both of us had taught classic British and American literature – Rebecca at Providence Academy and me at the college level in New York State many years ago.   She mentioned a couple of authors, among them C. S. Lewis, one of my favorites.   She asked me about an out-of-print book of his which I just happened to have.

The most recent serendipity before that was on Friday, as I was previewing a vacant house in preparation for listing another one in that neighborhood, I noticed a man in the yard next door and went to speak to him.   Turns out he is videographer for Quillen College of Medicine, and I asked him whether or not they kept videos of classes, thinking that a video of my husband’s “last class” last year would be a treasure for our children.  He said he’d check on that for me.   I was there, and realizing that after fifty years of introducing first-year medical students to gross anatomy, this was the last time he’d be doing that.   It was a moving time for me.

You see why I’m fascinated by serendipities.
