THE RIVER - A HELPING HAND FOR WOMEN IN JOHNSON CITY, and an opportunity for service for women who are blessed and want to pass it on.
THE RIVER is a store-front ministry in downtown Johnson City where women who need a hand can go to do laundry, shower, read, talk, learn skills, relax in safety. There's a section with toys and books for children. It's a safe place to relax, read, visit. Women can sew, learn and practice computer skills as well as take care of daily needs. (123 West Main Street, Johnson City)
Staffed by volunteers, THE RIVER can use helping hands in lots of ways: Time, money, prayer, skills, or items. Call 926-8111 for more information, whether you want to help or need help.
SHARE A HELPING HAND at THE RIVER - Here's a list of ways to help, including items to donate. I take individual toiletries, books, kids' things - mostly garage sale finds - an inexpensive copy of some book I know is good may be shared by many women there - a small price to pay for a good opportunity. When I tell the garage sale folks what I'm going to do with that toy or whatever, I get a chance to tell them about this worthwhile facility
