The final MECCA concert  for this season will be Saturday, May 14,2011.  It will be at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville, TN at 3:00 pm.   All the MECCA choirs will be performing:   HYE (Highlands Youth Ensemble), Da Capo, ETCC and the Choristers.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 638-1679, M-F, 11:30 am- 5:30pm.  Prices are:  Adults $10, Students $8, Children 5 & under Free.

More information about the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy, its choirs and concert schedules for the various choirs is available at:   If you have musically talented children, you’ll want to look at the descriptions of the various choirs and their auditions schedules.    I can give you the names of involved parents for more personal information.

The three singers I know best are Maggie Misterly, Caitlin Crockett and Brenna Williams.   This picture was after their last concert, the ETCC Spring Concert (East Tennessee Children’s Choir).    Maggie and Brenna are in the Da Capo choir as well as the ETCC choir which is why they are dressed differently from Caitlin, who isn't quite old enough yet for that group.

"I cannot think of any organization in our region which offers a more truly distinguished program for children in promoting artistic integrity, social discipline and educational benefits than that of the ETCC," said Kenton Coe, a Johnson City-based composer whom the ETCC has commissioned several times. "The plans for expansion can only bring a larger and longer-lasting benefit to our entire region and to future generations."

Thank you, Mary, for taking the time to help advertise the MECCA organization, its performances and the good things it brings into the lives of all the children it touches!  I really appreciate that you have 'shone this light' on such a deserving organization as MECCA!

Additionally, may I ad that I am very impressed and most pleasantly surprised with how quickly this post was available for viewing!!  What a terrific way to get the news out about worthwhile topics!

Thanks again for your time, effort and interest in promoting the MECCA organiztion!!!

FWIW ... 32 of the kids in these choirs (ETCC, DaCapo, and HYE) ... auditioned and were accepted into OAKE National Honors Choir. WOW!

I'll have to find out more about the other accomplishments of our singers, in addition to Brenna's recent honor.    I should have mentioned also that you all bought a house with my help.
