THE RIVER – Your chance to help this service help others.
The River’s Open House and Craft Sale will be Friday, November 1, 6-8 pm. While you’re downtown enjoying First Friday. All proceeds from crafts sold will help The River, a store-front ministry at 125 West Main Street in Johnson City.
The River provides a place where women who need a hand temporarily can go to do laundry, shower, read, talk, learn skills, relax in safety. There's a section with toys and books for children. It's a safe place to relax, read, visit. Women can sew, learn and practice computer skills as well as take care of daily needs. The facility is open from 8:00 to 3:00 Monday through Friday.

For more information, call 926-8111, whether you want to help or need help. This service is staffed by volunteers and can always use donations – time, money, prayer, skills, or items such as detergent, small sizes of shampoo/soap,etc. , snacks, toilet paper, paper towels, and diapers sizes 5 and 6 and pull ups for boys and girls. Clean toys and books are also welcome.
If you know a church or other organization that could use a detailed list of community services, email me and I’ll send you the one compiled by The River – far more resources than I was aware of. You could also help distribute a flyer about “Changing Lives from the Bottom Up” – a new program to distribute diapers to moms who need this help. Or call Stacy Larsen at 926-8111.
