A LETTER FROM SANTA which you may want to use - a serendipity

A LETTER FROM SANTA - A serendipity story and something you may want to use

On the chance that you know a child who is about to “outgrow Santa”, I want to share a sweet letter that the children and then the grandchildren of a friend of mine received from Santa as they were growing up.   When I first shared it with others, I got an unexpected serendipity – well, serendipities are always unexpected, and I’m delighted they keep happening.

My friend, Betty Hamilton, gave me permission to share her letter “from Santa”   Someone with whom I shared it asked me if "Betty" could by any chance be her old friend who had had a baby in 1959 near the time when she had her baby.   Willie lives near me and is on my neighborhood email list.   This put old friends back in touch with each other.    I have the pleasure of seeing  Betty and her children and grandchildren regularly.    Here is Betty's letter.

Dear Children,

We have known each other for quite some time now and these years have been great for both of us.   But as they say, “all good things must come to an end” and “when I become a man I put away childish ways.”

Although you have grown away from me as you grew older, you will never be out of my heart and I will keep all the sweet memories that I have of you as you have grown up.   I hope only the best for each of you as you begin to make important decisions that will influence the rest of your life.

Remember, I am always and ever, and even though we have come to a parting of the ways for a while, you will probably have a family and then we will meet again.

I have been a part of the wonderful time in your life, the exciting, the fantasy, the wonder, and the imagination.   Please never lose the ability to have these as a part of your life and add to these love and compassion for all and you will go far in anything you  undertake.

It is with a little sadness and a lot of joy in memories that I now say good-bye to this phase in your lives.

                                                I love you all,

                                                Santa Claus

A serendipity that hasn't happened yet - and one from long ago. The sign was down and the buyers still wanted to see the house which had been "For Sale by Owner" a few days before. The seller had responded today to my call with a cordial… more
